Service Description

Physical Therapists at NTDSE provide evaluation and treatment for students between the ages of 3 and 22 who present with a variety of motor skill and functional performance deficits that adversely impact their ability to fully participate in their educational programs. They may address issues that include range of motion, strength, balance, endurance, posture, positioning, and equipment needs. The physical therapists at NTDSE have received specialized training in motor learning theory, wheelchair seating and positioning, neurodevelopmental training, and various strategies focused on best practices for educating students with physical disabilities in the least restrictive environment. They are trained in providing school-based physical therapy services and participate in ongoing continuing education. In addition, they provide clinical supervision for physical therapy students at the graduate level, as well as provide volunteer opportunities for prospective physical therapy students.
