NTDSE School Health Services are provided by a Certified School Nurse (CSN) and by Registered Nurses (RN).
The nurses provide medical care and education to all NTDSE students and assist the classroom teacher in providing health education curriculum. The nurses provide consultation to parents and will collaborate with a familyís doctors and other medical personnel in order to develop a comprehensive health plan for students. The nurses insure that classroom staff is familiar with, and trained in, each studentís health plan. The nurses will update health plans as needed.
NTDSE Nurses are responsible for insuring that all federal and state mandates are observed and that student health records comply with federal and state laws.
On a yearly basis, the nursing team provides hearing and vision screening for all NTDSE students.
As determined by each studentís IEP, nurses might participate in the studentís IEP and complete health histories as part of the eligibility process.
NTDSE nurses are part of all educational teams. Nurses provide support to the classroom staff so that students can fully participate in the curriculum.
